The Influence of Problem Drinking Level on Life Satisfaction of the Middle-aged Women: Focused on the Multiple Mediating effect of Depression and Self-Esteem

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to verify the multiple mediating effect of depression and self-esteem on the relationship between problem drinking level and life satisfaction of the middle-aged women. For this study, data were drawn from the 8th wave panel data provided at The Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and Seoul National University. It included 1,136 persons of the middle-aged women. To analyze the data, SPSS 20.0 and SPSS Indirect macro were used. The results of this study were summarized as follows : (1) The total effect of depression and self-esteem influenced between problem drinking level and the life satisfaction directly or indirectly. (2) Depression mediated between problem drinking level and the life satisfaction. (3) Self-esteem mediated between problem drinking level and the life satisfaction. Based on the results, some implications were discussed to improve life satisfaction of the married middle-aged women through depression¡¯s reduction and self-esteem¡¯s improvement.
